about

onic Lifeform is the collaborative name under which Jen Anderson and Tim Shanasy have chosen to release this eclectic selection of contemporary instrumentals.

They were inspired by Tim’s beautiful Bechstein Grand piano and Jen’s treasured old violin and viola to make some ‘organic’ relaxing music. They have been improvising together for many years, and their work is often created spontaneously. The outcome has a freeflow ‘neoclassical’ feel to it. The album was originally released in October 1999 and is now being re-released in 2003.

This is the third CD release for Jen, who has formerly released a pop EP entitled ‘SEEK’, and a quartet-based music score which she wrote for the silent movie ‘PANDORA’S BOX’.

Sonic Lifeform is the collaborative name under which we have chosen to release this eclectic selection of contemporary instrumentals. Our only goal was to make some 'organic' relaxation music usin Tim's beautiful Bechstein 6'8" grand piano (circa 1897) and my treasured old violin and viola... We have played together for many years and love the spontaneous way that our music is often created - we just start improvising and see what happens. THe outcome has a free-flow 'neo-classical' feel to it. This particular bunch of tracks comes from a week spent together during May, 1999. Som eiders had already been generated by Tim, and I overdubbed violin or viola, and with others we just settled on a mood and pressed record to see what would happen. We hope that you enjoy listening and relaxing to what we cam up with.
