about

Jen Anderson was approached to compose the film score for Pandora's Box in 1993 and was immediately attracted to the idea of scoring music for a silent film, especially as a string quartet sound was required, and this is an area of instrumentation that she really enjoys writing for.

The project culminated in a national tour of live performances with her string quartet to accompany the screening of the film, and it generated huge media and public interest, with very positive reviews in the press.

The resultant CD is a selection of tracks which Jen considers to be amongst the highlights of the score. Whilst almost entirely instrumental, it also includes a song which she wrote about Louise Brooks’ character ‘Lulu’, and performed live before the commencement of each screening of the film during the tour.
